Jon Jones retains title in razor-close decision over Dominick Reyes in five-round war at UFC 247
They had 26 significant strikes for Reyes as compared to 19 for Jones -
And Jones didn’t land any TDs until the 4th and 5th rounds -
I didn’t perceive Reyes as really fading until mid to late in the 4th round and (I’d have to rewatch it to be sure) but seem to remember a lot of effective shots, particularly lots of effective counters in that 3rd round. (Which only one judge gave to Jones)
So it’s hard to see how you’d see it as a clear Jones round, but thanks for responding.
Jon Jones has ‘no interest’ in Israel Adesanya: ‘He’s very human to me, he’s not some special guy’
Can’t see it, unless someone has a strong microwave view. Jones accomplishments and resume dwarfs Israel’s MMA career. Israel getting under Jones skin doesn’t make him jealous, it makes him want to fight.
It’s like players and talent around him are important. How many times has Andy Dalton just thrown up a prayer to AJ Green? How about Matt Ryan just throwing it up to Julio Jones.
Look at the struggles Tom Brady has had with the average weapons in New England.
There is no way you can compete with jones, trae and huerter on the court together unless you score every possession. He wont be here next year so why even play him?
Dana White discusses controversial UFC 247 main event: ‘The scoring was all over the map’
I always watch and judge fights as a whole. Accoring to the scoring system I think Reyes should win, but watching the fight as a whole he was about to losing it. Good first 3 rounds for Dom, but Jones clearly took over in the last two. Dom was in survive mode and Jones was stalking him down. Its difficult because according to the actual scoring system Dom won the points, but as a fight I think Jones prevailed.
