Arthur Blank doesn’t sound optimistic about Devonta Freeman returning to Falcons in 2020
The team didn’t do anything with him when he was playing his best in garbage time, they were better when the force fed Julio last half of the season. Spend the Hooper money on clearing cap penalties and front seven short term fliers.

But has he really gotten better?
JackRabbit was a great player at times and at other DGAF. Snacks was great at what he did and his replacement was already on the roster in Tomlinson when Getty took over — Tomlinson is still the Giants best defensive lineman.
Just out of curiosity how has the Giants pass rush been without JPP and Vernon?
It is VERY easy to dump contracts and get younger. Especially when you are picking in the top 10. But it’s much harder to get better. Which the Giants haven’t really done yet. They still have no linebacker, no pass rush, spent #2 overall on a running back without fixing the o-line, still doesn’t have much in the way of young O-lineman etc…
The cap is a game. Good GM’s know how to play the game. (Abrams is pretty damn good at it frankly even though he isn’t the GM) There are always things you can do to buy space if you need to. Honestly cap hell almost doesn’t exist anymore. With a $200 million cap number only 2 teams are currently over — the Jags and the Vikings. Even for those teams the cap won’t really be a problem if they don’t want it to be.
I hate the faking injuries, like the barner standing in the end zone, looks to the sideline and goes down. It’s so hypocritical to talk about player safety and not address this.
I remember the wails of anguish Saban got when he proposed a ten second rule before the ball can be snapped. Apparently the NCAA would rather have fake injury timeouts, (more commercial time?) than do that.
DJ Jones being out was huge. He made so many crucial plays in big games that got us the one seed. That’s why I’m not opposed to strengthening the Dline even though it is already a strength. You can never have too many good pass rushers. Can’t help but think we beat the Chiefs with Taylor, Blair, and DJ Jones in the rotation.

I don’t care about the pick anymore. Barkley is fun to watch and I am glad he is a Giant. He is also more than "just a RB." Part of the reason people can still argue over this is because of the way he was been used. Because there is no point in spending #2 overall on a guy like Barkley and then using him the way Shurmur and Shula did.

Huge fan of Mahomes as a player — but that win was not because of him. That defense played well in big spots, got pressure when they had to, forced Jimmy G into bad spots and got the offense the ball back. Mahomes was off target. On the Game winning drive his deep pass required the WR to pitch and tent and wait for it because it was so short. His mechanics just felt all wonky and his processing speed / decision making was just slow. First time I can remember that he seemed to play like the NFL was to fast for him.
He has admitted he gets nerves and he looked it in this game. The team believed in him though. They never played like they were worried or pressing. They knew if they could get him more chances he could get it done. And he did eventually. But he did just enough — he wasn’t himself he didn’t take over the game he didn’t look clean or make it look easy. He was playing a hell of a defense though.

Everyone loves him, everyone is happy he is a Giant, but the positional value guys still won’t let go (me included) that a RB at 2 was bad value. Same would be true of Nelson. We would all love him and still be arguing taking a guard was probably not the right choice.
