Here’s the official UDFA crop for the 2017 Rams.

UCLA ATH Ishmael Adams

Ishmael is a hell of an athlete, though his frame is going to immediately limit him to special teams. Can he find a way on to the 53-man from special standout or to something he can offer either side of the ball?

Arkansas CB Jared Collins

Collins is in a similar situation. Skills. And moreso than Adams, position-dependent technique. But frame issues persist. Can he offer something beyond specials? If not, can he break the wall?

Colorado St. ILB Kevin Davis

Moves well, but doesn’t play the position to attack. Does he break through the special teams wall?

USC RB Justin Davis

Davis was part of a rotation at USC featuring with Ronald Jones the last two years. He leaves with solid production, albeit limited skills outside of speed. Could he make the 53-man as a burner to complement Gurley and the current depth chart?

Washington G Jake Eldrenkamp

The Rams, surprisingly, didn’t draft a single offensive lineman. That obviously leans in favor of the UDFA O-linemen to give them a shot at cracking the 53-man roster over the fringe guys of years past. Eldrenkamp is an athletic option without the brute force of a man run blocking guard. He’s got a shot.

New Mexico St. C Anthony McMeans

Opposite of Eldrenkamp. Chunky plodder. I suppose there’s legitimacy here too, but it’s an either-or decision.

Oregon TE Johnny Mundt

Mundt was a highly-sought after prospect out of high school coming out of Modesto, California. Injuries really destabilized the middle of his career, though, and as such he saw his place in the pecking order as teammate TE Pharoah Brown often played the preferred TE. He put in some decent performances in 2016 though. If that’s indicative of some late growth in his game, perhaps he’s just now coming into his skill set and could be a surprise in camp.

Dartmouth OLB Folarin Orimolade

I do not watch much Ivy League football. I do now know much about Ivy League football. There are things on the internet, such as Orimolade’s YouTube account which includes two videos of highlights.

Missouri CB Aarion Penton

Fiesty, but very undersized for the position. Can he offer anything past special teams?

Ohio DL Casey Sayles

Willing and able. There’s not an angle of his game that’s special, but nothing is overwhelmingly deficient. Legit option for depth, though the Rams already have plenty. Were the Rams light up front, I could see an easy path. They’re not...so I don’t.

North Carolina St. DB Dravious Wright

Wright has some versatility coming out of Raleigh. He’s got an interesting build that may offer him an option at safety along with his nickel corner experience. I remember a couple of big hits throughout his career, so that physicality will certainly be something to look out for.

(On how he will fit into Rams Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips’ 3-4 defensive scheme)

“I think naturally I’m a 3-4 outside linebacker, so I couldn’t have asked for a better fit. I’m just blessed to have this opportunity. I’m just grateful that it finally came around after three long days. I think I’ll fit right in with what I do. My specialty is penetration and pass rush so I think I can definitely be useful.”

(On if he thought his injury history was going to impact where he got drafted)

“The draft is so unpredictable, I’ve tried to keep my expectations pretty much even, but I thought I had two really good years these last two years. I just expected to have an opportunity and I’m blessed that I do now. No matter when it comes, it’s all even when you put the pads on so I’m just grateful to be a Ram today.”

(On his injury history)

“I had a torn pectoral in 2012, a stress fracture in my lower back in 2013 and I tore my other pectoral in 2014. Before then and ever since then I’ve been 100 percent healthy, so I wouldn’t really label myself as injury prone, but it is what it is.”

(On if he had contact with the Rams before the draft)

“We had conversations with a couple people, but you never really know what’s what until they pick you. Yeah, we definitely had some conversations and I’m just thankful that they thought highly enough of me to pick me at this point in the draft.”

(On if he has had any contact with Aaron Donald)

“Yeah, I know him. I’ll probably talk to him in a little bit, but I haven’t talked to him today. I’ve been getting a lot of calls from teams. I’ve been really busy this last half an hour to an hour or so. I’m sure we’ll link up and speak on it at one point.”

(On if he has ever worked out with Donald at Pittsburgh)

“No, I’ve been seeing him around for years. We played on the same team for a bit and we were rivals in high school. We never got the opportunity to link up and work out when he comes back to Pittsburgh because I was in college doing my thing and he was in the pros doing his thing so time schedules didn’t really permit. We go to the same trainer now, so I’m sure we’ll have some sessions in the summer time.”

Cardiac Hill, the SB Nation community for fans of the Pitt Panthers, said this of the selection:

Price was a fringe pick so seeing him get selected was great. As I mentioned, he's a little undersized and at 24, one of the older players available. But there's absolutely no questioning what he did on the field in his last two seasons at Pitt. He had a total of 24 1/2 sacks and 42 1/2 tackles for losses in those years and his 29 1/2 career sacks ranks fourth on the school's all-time list.

Like a few other guys that were drafted from Pitt, I think that getting him in this round is a good grab. This late in the draft, teams are really doing nothing more than taking chances and trying to add depth. When you can get an All-American this late in the game, it's really hard to complain.

Here are his major NFL.com draft profile notes:

STRENGTHS

Quick-twitch athlete with elite playmaking production over last two seasons. Stutter steps and head fakes in rush approach causes uncertainty for tackles. Able to juke inside and bounce back out to create an edge opening as rusher. Built low to ground and plays strong through redirect blocks to trim the edge. Flashes explosive spin counter that can create wins. Absolute bulldog when he smells a sack opportunity. Stout and strong. Big burst to close out quarterbacks. Disruptive in gaps against the run. Sudden stunts inside are often too quick for tackles to counter. Willing to take chances to make plays in backfield.

WEAKNESSES

Missed more than two seasons with injuries. Burst-based athlete missing long speed. Slow to transition when forced to make sharp directional changes. Unable to run down running backs headed for corner. Needs to finish plays. Can be quick to shut motor down if he doesn't think a tackle is within range. Appeared gassed at times. Struggles to counter long-limbed tackles with a quick punch. Face-up rusher missing upper body flexibility and hip flip. Needs soft edge to turn the corner.

The Rams closed out their 2017 draft haul with Aaron Donald’s former teammate.

With the 234th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams have taken Pitt OLB Ejuan Price.

Price is a skilled edge rusher who tallied 24.5 sacks in the last two years under Head Coach Pat Narduzzi.

Perhaps more relevant, Price entered the rotation as a true freshman in 2011...just as then starlet DT Aaron Donald was growing into his skills at Pitt. Now six years later, the two are reunited in Los Angeles on the Rams.

The delay in Price’s career at Pitt was due to an injury to his pectoral muscle. A similar re-injury in 2014 that erased the entire year from his bio, Price’s last two years have been very impressive. If the medical clears and he can add some fitness and stamina to his game, he could find himself in the mix for a roster spot.

Rogers is a bowling ball of a football player who came out of the Richmond are as a high school having played quarterback, wide receiver, running back and multiple positions on defense. After walking on at Tech, he quickly owned the top fullback spot and added the classic brute force approach to help some relatively poor rushing attacks through the end of the Frank Beamer era. It’s worth noting Rogers wasn’t just a blocker and oddball in the passing game as has Rams FB/TE Cory Harkey.

Rogers was a significant component in the Hokies’ rushing game in his career in Blacksburg. He finished with just less than 700 rushing yards in his four years to go with just more than 800 receiving yards.

Excited to play football on every single rep. Times up snap and is quick into the neutral zone. Always searching for the ball. Uses hand quickness to disengage and tackle on time. Good football instincts and quick to recognize and react to screens. Plays with quick hands and quick feet that get him in position to make plays. Gets to blocker's edge with low center of gravity to drive up the field and disrupt. Able to fill a stat sheet up against both run and pass. Feet and hands are a whirlwind of action that never stop looking for improved positioning. Catches blockers under their pads and has the leg drive to bull them back into the pocket.

WEAKNESSES

Short and squatty frame. Matched up against below average competition on most weeks. Plays straight-legged which limits his change of direction. Lack of length causes him to swing and miss in tackle attempts against shifty runners. May not have enough raw power to make up for his lack of size. Long-armed guards can stab his chest and stick him in neutral.
