Jonah Jackson joined the Los Angeles Rams this most recent offseason. Fans will have to wait and see how he does come gameday. For now, the offensive lineman completed a recent interview and you can read the quote below (video will be below too!). It’s a business and Jackson talks about picking from a few teams to sign with, however he says that he chose LA because of Matthew Stafford.

Jared Goff and Brad Holmes apparently also had nice things to say about the organization, so Jackson had some insight for his decision. Again, read about it below, he lists some others reasons (such as the weather) to come to LA as well.

Happy Saturday. Please comment on whatever you want and thanks for checking out Turf Show Times!

Jonah Jackson on the main reason he signed with the Rams: ‘No. 9’ (ramswire)

“During an interview with J.B. Long and D’Marco Farr, Jackson said Stafford was the primary reason he picked the Rams.

“It definitely came down to a few teams but here, obviously, the weather is absolutely incredibly. Every day is beautiful. But, No. 9,” Jackson said. “I had Matthew my rookie year and I knew what he brought to the table and I knew he could bring us all the way. And from the outside looking in, we had a lot of carryover in Detroit and I got along well with those guys. Greg, Brad (Holmes), Jared (Goff) and they all loved it out here and I figured they’re my kind of guys.”

Jackson isn’t yet up to full speed as he recovers from a knee injury suffered late last year, but he’s going to be a huge part of the Rams’ offense once the season begins. At 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, he’s both literally and figuratively a big player along the offensive line.”

Rams News: Longtime Cowboys Coach Worried About Key Element of LA’s Game in 2024 (si.com)

“After visiting the Los Angeles Rams during Organized Team Activities (OTAs), former three-time Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl champion-turned-head coach Jason Garrett got honest about his reservations regarding the team’s defense without recently-retired Pro Bowl defensive tackle Aaron Donald, per Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire.

“The big question there is Aaron Donald is no longer a member of the Los Angeles Rams,” Garrett said. “Having gone against that guy a lot, he’s the most disruptive player we ever had to game plan against. And you always had to have two guys on him. You had to have an answer in the run game and in the pass game. And when you’re playing around him and are coaching when he is on your team, it’s an unfair advantage. And now they don’t have that. He was the human eraser. And so now, they drafted the two kids from Florida State. I think they’re excited about them. But it’s going to be a younger team on defense without that superstar, that marquee player, so that’s going to be a big question.”

WATCH: NFL Draft Footage Shows LA Rams Are Fired Up To Add Jared Verse, Braden Fiske (si.com)

“The Rams traded up to snag Fiske at No. 39 overall, and when he got the call from Rams General Manager Les Snead, it was clear the entire organization was fired up about landing the duo.

The exchange had the entire staff, including Verse, elated with the decision. “You didn’t know we were taking him did you?” McVay said to Verse.”

Random Ramsdom Fandom: Why is Stafford bad at this stat? (By Ferragamo15 on Jun 4, 2024)

“In recent seasons, Matthew Stafford has consistently ranked towards the bottom of the NFL in a key statistical category: red zone completion percentage. This “flaw” was a contributing factor in why the Rams lost to the Detroit Lions in the playoffs last season. What is behind those numbers, should the Rams be concerned about the issue and if so, how can the team remedy the situation moving forward?

As a preface, it should be stressed that there is no direct correlation between having the best RZ completion % and being the best QB in the league. Last season, Mac Jones ranked 4th in the stat. In 2022, Justin Fields was 1st and Andy Dalton was 2nd. In 2021, Davis Mills was 2nd. CJ Stroud was 32nd last season. Sometimes, red zone incompletions are a “good” thing and having a RZ completion rate that is “too high” can be a bad thing.

A high completion rate can be a sign that the team calls safe passes instead of going for TDs. This happened when Jared Goff was on the roster, McVay sometimes would call conservative plays, seemingly afraid that Goff would make a mistake and cause a turnover. If nobody is open, a smart veteran QB will throw the ball away rather than put it into danger by forcing the ball into coverage. Settling for a FG is normally better than throwing an INT in the end zone.

Still, elite QBs typically have had good RZ completion rates, even if they aren’t always at the very top of the chart. Patrick Mahomes is normally somewhere inside the top 10, placing 7th, 10th and 9th the last 3 years. Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers are among the QBs who have ranked 1st in this stat in recent years. Brock Purdy was 1st last season. Meanwhile, the QBs at the very bottom of the rankings are the “usual suspects”, QBs not considered to be very good. The last place QBs the last 4 seasons have been Will Levis, Kenny Pickett, Daniel Jones and Sam Darnold. A QB who has consistently ranked higher than Stafford has been the new backup, Jimmy Garoppolo. He was 7th best in 2022 and 8th in 2019. If Jimmy G can do it, why hasn’t Stafford been more efficient in the red zone?”
