Rams to face Lions in Wild Card round

Rams face Lions, setting up Matthew Stafford, Jared Goff against old teams

The Los Angeles Rams won their season finale against the San Francisco 49ers and the Detroit Lions secured the three-seed, setting up a wild card showdown that couldn’t have been more perfect if the NFL had written it themselves. Which they probably did.

The Rams and Lions will face off in the wild card round of the 2023-24 playoffs. The date and time should be revealed on Sunday night.

Matthew Stafford played 12 seasons with the Lions prior to be traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 and helping them win a Super Bowl. Jared Goff played five seasons with the Rams prior to being traded to Detroit in the Stafford trade.

The Lions are here in large thanks to general manager Brad Holmes, who left the Rams organization in 2021 to take the job. The Rams received two third round compensatory picks when the Lions hired Holmes, and the first of those two was used on star linebacker Ernest Jones.

The two teams have not met since the 2021 season.
