Rams vs. 49ers: How to watch, game time, TV schedule, streaming and more

How to watch the regular season finale between Rams’ Carson Wentz and 49ers’ Sam Darnold

NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Rams have something to play for on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers: Win and secure the six-seed, a chance for Matthew Stafford to go to Detroit and face his former team, the Lions, in the wild card round. Lose and the Rams could fall to the seven seed if the Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears. That would mean that L.A. is going to face the winner of the NFC East and if they win that game, they would need to go back to San Francisco to face the 49ers in the divisional round.

So Sean McVay has plenty to gain with a win on Sunday...but that won’t stop him from resting and protecting his key players from injury.

The Rams will start Carson Wentz at quarterback on Sunday, giving him his first start in over a year. Kyren Williams, Aaron Donald, Ernest Jones, and Cooper Kupp are among others who will be out. Players like Puka Nacua, who is going for the rookie receiving record, is probably not going to play for long if and when he achieves that mark.

On the other side, the 49ers truly have nothing to play for except pride. Quarterback Brock Purdy and running back Christian McCaffrey will sit, as will others, so buckle up for a game that isn’t quite a preseason game but also isn’t quite a real game either.

It’ll be real to the players on the field.
