Monday Night Football: The Jaguars can help their AFC playoff hopes with win over Bengals

Jacksonville is currently in 3rd of the AFC playoff picture, and will need to win to keep pace with Baltimore and Miami

The Cincinnati Bengals head to Duval County to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in an AFC matchup that could affect post season matchups, with the Jaguars currently sitting at 8-3 and in the three seed of the playoff picture. Meanwhile the loss of Joe Burrow has completely derailed the Bengals season, who now sit at 5-6 and in eleventh place in the AFC. If they hope to have any chance of playing meaningful football at the end of December, they will need to get a win tonight in Jacksonville.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Jaguars are currently favored heavily over the Bengals in tonight’s game. We have been using Tallysight to get our picks in each week, so sign up at Tallysight for submitting your own bets.

This is a pretty simple game to pick for me. I am a big fan of the Jaguars, Doug Peterson and QB Trevor Lawrence, adding in the fact that Joe Burrow is not going to be returning to Cincinnati this season, I just don’t see a way that the Bengals will pull out the win against Jacksonville’s potent offense that has scored at least 24 points in the last four of five games.

The Bengals on the other hand are riding a three-game losing streak, and under new QB Jake Browning, and were only able to muster 10-pts last week against a Pittsburgh Steelers team that just lost 24-10 to the now 3-10 Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

I am taking the Jaguars to win the game and cover the large spread. It helps that Jacksonville will have their star RB Travis Etienne Jr. ready to play, as Etienne was questionable with a rib injury sustained last week against Texans in the Jaguars Week 12 win. While the Bengals have not had a ton of offensive success under Browning yet, I am still taking the over in this one, as it was only at 38-pts, and Jacksonville has scored at least 31 in three of the last five games.
