In another step up the ladder to the NFL playoffs, the Los Angeles Rams head to the east coast to take on the New York Football Giants on New Year’s Eve. The game kicks off at 10 a.m. PST from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Weather is expected to be mild for this time of year, mostly sunny with temperatures in the upper 40’s and light winds.

L.A. has been red hot since their bye in Week 10, sporting a 5-1 record. In victories over the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Washington Commanders, New Orleans Saints and the heart-breaking overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens, the Rams are scoring at a 30 points per game clip while giving up 22.5.

After a rough 2-8 start, New York started to turn things around in Week 11 behind rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito. They won three in a row, knocking off the Washington Commanders, New England Patriots, and Green Bay Packers. But the shine on DeVito’s game was short-lived and the Gmen lost consecutive games to the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles. New York has now turned to veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor to lead the team.

The Giants have one of the NFL’s worst scoring and passing offenses, but still have stand out running back Saquon Barkley. The former Number 2 overall pick is on track for another 1000 yard season and has scored eight of New York’s 20 total touchdowns.

On defense, the Gmen give up 24.8 points per game (27th), 229.7 yards (20th), and 134.2 yards rushing (29th). The Rams can expect the blitz, New York employs it on 43.5 percent of snaps. For all that blitzing, they have only gotten home for sacks 25 times (31st).

Place kicking has been a sore spot as well, the Giants are on their third warm body. Graham Gano went the first eight games, Randy Bullock stepped in for six, and now veteran Mason Crosby, recently released from the Rams practice squad, drops the boot.

Can the Rams continue their hot streak and possibly lock up a playoff berth? Here’s how to keep track.
