Rams-Browns: Game thread for second half

It’s a low scoring game at the half as both defenses have outplayed their respective offenses

NFL: Cleveland Browns at Los Angeles Rams Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Rams are leading the Cleveland Browns by a score of 13-10 at the end of the first half.

The game began with LA kicking off to Cleveland’s offense. Joe Flacco took the start for the Browns at quarterback today and looked good on his opening drive. Flacco led Cleveland down the field before throwing a touchdown pass to running back Jerome Ford. The Browns took a 7-0 lead after the successful extra point.

The Rams offense and Matthew Stafford took the field for their first drive. They would have to settle for a field goal after stalling out in the redzone. LA scored their first points of the day, and trailed with a score of 7-3. On Cleveland’s second drive, LA’s defense would force a punt. The Rams had the ball on offense for their second time today with about five minutes to go in the first quarter.

LA’s second drive was two plays. A nine yard completion to Tutu Atwell and then a Puca Nakua completion for 70 yards and touchdown. LA led 10-7 after the extra point with about four minutes to go in the first quarter.

On the next drive, LA’s defense forced their second Cleveland punt in a row, and the Rams had the ball on offense for the third time today. LA moved the ball and got into scoring range. The first quarter would come to a close with the Rams facing a fourth and seven.

At the start of the second quarter, Lucas Havrisik attempted a 43 yard field goal, but the attempt fell no good. The Browns had the ball on offense and Flacco was making some throws so far this game, but also to this point LA’s defense had been stopping Cleveland’s run game. The Browns would punt the ball back to LA giving Stafford and company another to chance to add points.

The Brown defense has been good all year and they forced another LA punt with about 10 minutes to go in the half. Both offenses had made some plays, and at the same time both teams seemed to be struggling moving the ball with consistency. The Browns would punt the ball again as LA’s defense continued to stifle them.

On the Rams next drive, Nacua would appear to be injured after converting a first down for LA. The Rams wouldn’t get another first down this drive, punting the ball back to Cleveland. Amari Cooper appeared to be injured for Cleveland before the Browns would have to punt once again.

With about six minutes to go in the half, Stafford and the Rams took the field. Stafford and Kupp would not connect on a third down and LA found themsevles punting again. Flacco pushed the ball downfield and was giving the Browns a chance to score before the half came to a close. LA’s defense didn’t give up a touchdown, but they did give up a field goal and the Browns tied the game 10-10 2:06 remaining in the half.

LA would quickly take the game to the two minute warning. LA was able to move the ball coming out of the two minute warning, and kicked a field goal for a 13-10 lead as the half came to a close.
