Over the past month, New York Giants undrafted quarterback Tommy DeVito has taken the league by storm. Since taking over as the starter “Tommy Cutlets” helped the Giants win three consecutive games. However, after a rough outing in Week 16 against the Philadelphia Eagles, Giants head coach Brian Daboll has made a change.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Los Angeles Rams will be facing a different Giants quarterback as Daboll is turning to Tyrod Taylor in Week 17.

Taylor starting at quarterback shouldn’t change the Rams’ chances in this game too much. However, as a veteran quarterback with experience, he will provide slightly more of a challenge for the Rams defense. Taylor almost led a Giants comeback last week against the Eagles as he threw for 133 yards. However, he only completed 43.8 percent of his passes while throwing one touchdown and one interception.
This season, Taylor has started three other games for the Giants before suffering an injury. He’s thrown for 725 yards while completing 61.7 percent of his passes with three touchdowns to just one interception. The good news for the Rams defense is that Taylor is more predictable and has more tape. With that said, he is a veteran quarterback and likely won’t be overwhelmed with what the Rams try to throw at him.
Los Angeles will be coming off of 10 days of rest following their win last Thursday against the New Orleans Saints. A win against the Giants would give the Rams nine wins on the season clinch a winning record for the season. With a win and Seattle Seahawks loss or a tie between the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers and the Rams will clinch a playoff spot.
The fall of the legend of “Tommy Cutlets” happened almost as quickly as the rise. Los Angeles will face Taylor and the Giants in Week 17 on New Year’s Eve.
