In a season of ups and downs, the Los Angeles Rams have finally scratched and clawed their way into a playoff seed. They can make a big step in solidifying that position by knocking off the New Orleans Saints in tonight’s NFL Thursday Night Football matchup. Kickoff is 5:15 p.m. PST from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Ca.

While the Rams currently hold the #7 seed, both squads come in with 7-7 records, and are separated in the playoff race by NFL tiebreaker procedures. New Orleans is not only in heat of a wildcard battle, they are still in the running for the NFC South top spot and its #4 seed. Tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they trail the Bucs through a tiebreaker.

The Saints travel west riding a two week win streak after securing home victories over the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers. L.A. got back in the win column last Sunday, knocking off the Washington Commanders after a gut-wrenching overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens the week previous.

Quarterback Derek Carr leads a middle-of-the-pack Saints offense. They average 22.1 points per game, 231.4 passing yards, 103.2 on the ground, and 5.1 yards per play with all these numbers ranking between 12 and 21. Carr is hitting 67.4 percent of his passes and has logged 16 touchdowns against seven interceptions. He’s not much of a threat to run, New Orleans brings in hybrid QB/RB/WR Taysom Hill for that. He’s thrown nine passes for 72 yards, ran for 347, and caught passes for another 233.

Chris Olave is the Crescent City’s top receiver with 918 yards on 72 grabs, while running back Alvin Kamara is threat with his hands and feet. He’s ran for 630 yards, added 68 catches for 446 yards, and scored six times.

This is a “must” game for both teams. Each has a viable path to the playoffs and can determine their own destinies, but only one can start to realize them with a win on Thursday Night Football. Will it be the Rams? Here’s how to find the action and answers.
