Random Ramsdom: Is this how the Browns can beat LA?

Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 12/2/23

The Los Angeles Rams take on the Cleveland Browns this weekend, and apparently the Browns have a chance to win this game by leaning on their run game. According to some, LA’s run defense hasn’t been the best and the overall defense is middle of the pack. That’s fair and maybe I’ll be surprised, but I am more worried about the Rams offense than defense. We’ll just see what happens.

What are your thoughts? What should the Rams prepare for? Or what should LA try to expoit?

Thanks for checking out today’s Random Ramsdom and have a great Saturday!

Matchup Thursday: How the Browns Offense Can Attack This Rams Defense (brownsdigest)

“Cleveland needs to attack this team on the ground. While I do believe that Joe Flacco has some gas left in the tank, he hasn’t played in over ten months and will definitely have some rust to work off. This is going to be a big game for Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt to establish the run and shorten the game. From there, the quarterback needs to play a clean and efficient game.

The Rams come into Sunday sporting the No. 16 ranked defense in all of the NFL. They give up about 331 yards and 21.3 points per contest. Teams throw for 217 yards and rush for 113 yards against this defense.”

How the Browns defense matches up against the Rams offense (clevelandbrowns.com)

“Their run game is very different with Williams in the lineup. He returned to the lineup in Week 12 against the Cardinals after missing some time with an ankle sprain he suffered on Oct. 15. During the absence of Williams, the Rams managed to rush for over 100 yards only once. The Browns defense needs to be extra vigilant against the run because the Rams have been consistent in their passing game throughout the season. If the Browns can stop the run early on, it will force the Rams to rely solely on their passing game, making it easier for the Browns to defend against them.

“Yeah, it’s all a challenge,” HC Kevin Stefanski said. “I think they do a great job. Run game, pass game. They marry the run and the pass. They can run their play actions, their keepers. Their dropback game is really strong. Again, Matthew Stafford sees it so well, and can throw the ball to every area of the field. Great receivers, tight ends, running backs, you name it. And then all the things they do pre snap with their motions, their shifts, their bunches, their stacks. It’s a big challenge for our defense.”

How about this under the radar Rams player who can make a huge impact in Week 13 (ramblinfan)

“They come into Week 13 just one game back out of the seventh seed in the NFC Playoffs race, and if they want to make a real run at the playoffs, they need their stars to play like stars. Veteran QB Matthew Stafford, DT Aaron Donald, and WR Cooper Kupp are some names that must perform at a high level. However, while the big names need to show out every week, one under-the-radar name who has played a significant role in the Rams’ resurgence could mean a lot to this team down the stretch.

Royce Freeman could make a big impact

Veteran running back Royce Freeman is number two on the running back depth chart behind Kyren Williams. While Kyren Williams played his best game of the year last week in their 37-14 win over the Arizona Cardinals, Royce Freeman also had a solid game and showed he could make an impact when Williams needs a break.”

Browns QB Joe Flacco to start vs. Rams; Dorian Thompson-Robinson (concussion) ruled out (nfl.com)

“Joe Flacco’s 2023 season debut will be as the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback on Sunday.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson has been ruled out for Week 13 due to a concussion, ushering Flacco into the starting role for the Browns against the host Los Angeles Rams, the team announced Friday.

Flacco, a former Super Bowl Most Valuable Player who will start for the fourth team in his career, will likewise be the fourth starting QB of the season for the Browns.

With Deshaun Watson out for the season with a shoulder injury, Cleveland has also started PJ Walker, who will back up Flacco, and the rookie Thompson-Robinson.”
