Commanders rule out leading rusher for Rams game

The Rams may need to keep a look out, Antonio Gibson is fumbling a lot in 2023

The Washington Commanders, already mired in a huge slump as they trudge backwards to the 2023 season finale, are set to be without one of their best players in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Rams: Running back Brian Robinson is ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Washington will need to roll with former starter Antonio Gibson and rookie Chris Rodriguez against the Rams.

Robinson has rushed for 664 yards and caught 29 passes for 326 yards this season, for a total of 990 yards and eight touchdowns from scrimmage. He has also fumbled three times.

The Rams have had an average run defense this season, ranking 12th in yards and 11th in yards per carry allowed. L.A. has held three of their last four opponents under 90 rushing yards since the bye week.

Gibson, who rushed for 1,037 yards in 2021, has not been nearly as effective since. He rushed for 546 yards and 3.7 yards per carry in 2022 and has been relegated to backup duty in 2023. He has 193 rushing yards and no touchdowns, but has caught 37 passes for 322 yards. He has fumbled four times, however. The Rams will need to keep their eyes on the ball at all times.
