Monday Night Football: Is Green Bay a legitimate threat in the NFC playoffs?

After two big wins, the Packers face a potential trap game against the 4-8 New York Giants

There is two-games tonight for Monday night football, with The Green Bay Packers heading to MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Giants and the Tennessee Titans heading to the Miami Dolphins. The Packers are coming off back-to-back wins against contenders, after a Thanksgiving win over the NFC North leading Detroit Lions and a Sunday night football victory last week over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Meanwhile, the Giants are also riding a two-game winning streak on the arm of backup QB Tommy Devito, taking down the Patriots and Commanders as of late.

Miami has been arguably the best team in the NFL the last few weeks, while Tennessee is potentially been one of the worst.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Packers are currently favored over the Giants and the Dolphins are heavy favorites over the Titans. We have been using Tallysight to get our picks in each week, so sign up at Tallysight for submitting your own bets.

While both Green Bay and New York are on two-game winning streaks, but I find the Packers much more impressive. Their offense has looked in-sync, with Jordan Love posting eight touchdown passes to no interceptions in his last three games. Taking down both the Lions and Chiefs were big wins, and they are currently slated in the 7th seed of the NFC playoff bracket.

That’s not to discredit the Giants though, as Tommy Devito has been playing well as of late with a six touchdown to one interception ratio of his own in the last three games. However, after watching their latest 10-7 victory over the Patriots, I worry if they have the consistency on offense to hold up against the Packers strong defense, and specifically, their front seven.

I think this will end up being a close, low scoring game. I have the Giants covering the spread but Green Bay getting the win in the end. I am also taking the under in this one, only because both teams have had some low scoring games this season and I think defense will play a much bigger hand in tonight’s matchup.

In the Titans and Miami game, I just don’t think there is much chance for Tennessee. Right now the Titans are averaging 17.8-points per game, while Miami almost doubles that at 32-points per game, and for me that tells me all I need to know.

Tennessee looks like a team that is in need of a culture change, as they have looked stale all season, but the spread is so large that I am still taking the Titans to cover. I have Miami winning the game. I also have the under in this one, as I think Tennessee won’t score enough to help Miami hit the over.
