Rams vs. Ravens, Week 14: Game thread for second half

LA has a lead at the end of the first half. Can they hold it?

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at Baltimore Ravens Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Rams lead the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 20-17 after the first half.

The game opened up with LA kicking off to the Ravens. Lamar Jackson and his offense took the field, but the Rams defense quickly forced the Ravens to punt after a strong stop on a third and two. After the punt, LA had the ball on offense, and a chance to open up the scoring in this Week 14 matchup.

The Rams started the game with eight straight rushing plays. LA was able to march down the field, and were set up after a first and goal. However after threee straight incompletetions from Matthew Stafford, LA was forced to settle for a field goal. The Rams led 3-0 after the successful Lucas Havrisik kick.

On Baltimore’s next offensive possession, the Rams defense picked up right where they left off, and forced another Ravens punt. LA wouldn’t get much going this drive, and were forced to punt back to Baltimore. Jackson quickly took advantage when he found Isaiah Likely for a long score. The Ravens led the Rams 7-3 after the extra point with 25 seconds ramaining in the first quarter.

LA had the ball as the second quarter started, and Stafford made a few nice throws. Players like Demarcus Robinson and Cooper Kupp maybe made even nicer catches as the Rams turned the drive into another first and goal scenario. Stafford would connect with Kupp on a third down, and LA would score their first touchdown of the game. LA led 10-7 with about 12 minutes remaining in the half.

The Ravens quickly answered, but this time with a long strike from Jackson to former Ram, Odell Beckam Jr. LA trailed by a score of 14-10 after the extra point. The Rams were punting, but an offsides call on the Ravens kept LA’s offense on the fied. Stafford completed a big pass to Puka Nacua (who broke 1,000 receiving yards on the season earler today) and the Rams moved down the field. Unfortuntaly Tutu Atwell looked to get seriously hurt on one of the plays. Spectators we’ll have to wait for an official update.

A few plays after the injury, LA scored their second touchdown of the day and led 17-14 after the extra point. The Ravens had the ball again on offense and Jackson took another deep shot, but this time LA came away with an intereception. After the return, LA had the ball around the mid field mark with about four minutes reamaining in the half.

The Rams ended up attempting a field after the two minute warning and Havrisik would connect on the 51 yarder to give LA a lead of 20-14 with one minute and 45 secods remaining in the half. The Ravens were able to move the ball as they took up the final moments of the first half. LA’s defense would hold the Ravens to a field goal.

LA leads 20-17 as the first half ends. What is going to happen in the second half?
