Two teams on opposite path’s clash today as the Los Angeles Rams cross the desert to battle the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday, November 26. The 1:05 PST kickoff from State Farm Stadium in Glendale Arizona will have some importance, even considering both squad’s disappointing records.

While the Cards are battling for the Number 1 pick in next years draft, the Rams, even after all the ups-and-downs, have a playoff berth still within their grasp. They currently stand in slot #9, with both the Minnesota Vikings (#6) and Seattle Seahawks (#7) having tenuous grips on their positions and tough schedules ahead, L.A. can add apply tremendous pressure with five more wins down the stretch.

The Rams have their own pressure, they haven’t put together back-to-back wins since September of last year and have generally played just well enough to lose close games to teams of equal or better talent in this annum. There isn’t any room for error after losing close. but very winnable games to the Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburg Steelers, and Green Bay Packers.

First and most importantly, L.A. has to knock off the teams the teams they’re supposed to. Starting with the Cards today, continuing with the Washington Commanders in Week 15, New Orleans Saints in Week 16 and finishing with the New York Giants in Week 17. Second, they have to step up and knock off a playoff-bound team, two would be even better. The Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, and San Francisco 49ers will tax them to limit. They do get the Browns at home.

Although both the Rams and Cardinals injury reports for today’s game are very long with nagging ailments, safety Quentin Lake is the only L.A. starter out, while wide receiver Michael Wilson is the only Card starter set to miss. Rams special teamer Bennett Skowronek has been battling hip and back problems for much of the season and is questionable. Arizona’s star receiver Marquise Brown has been unable to practice with a bad heel and is questionable.

For the Rams, a win is another step to a playoff run, while a loss keeps the Cardinals in the running for the Number 1 pick of the 2024 NFL draft. Will both teams get what they want?
