Rams cut running back to make room for Kyren Williams

The Rams waived Darrell Henderson on Tuesday to get Kyren Williams back on the roster

The Los Angeles Rams announced good news this week by bringing back Kyren Williams from injured reserve, but that meant having to make a tough decision with bad news for somebody else and unfortunately that player is Darrell Henderson. The Rams waived Henderson on Tuesday in order to make room for Williams, who is expected to return from IR on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

It was a short-lived reunion for Henderson, who apparently is more expendable than rookie Zach Evans or veteran Royce Freeman.

Henderson had 46 carries for 112 yards and two touchdowns, along with 103 receiving yards, in four games back with the Rams this season. A former third round pick by the team in 2019, Henderson had only six carries for one yard (but a touchdown) in Sunday’s win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Freeman had 42 snaps to Henderson’s 24 in Week 11. Evans had one snap.

Henderson could end up coming back to the practice squad as it is unlikely a team will claim him. That’s probably why he went and Evans didn’t.
