The Los Angeles Rams trail the Seattle Seahawks by a score of 13-7 at the end of the first half.
The game began with Seattle kicking off to LA. The Rams had a whole bye week to prepare for this drive. Matthew Stafford was back in the lineup, but he and the rams did next to nothing on their opening drive, and were forced to punt back to the Seahawks. Geno Smith took the field and he led his team with a much more effective opening drive than LA’s. Seattle was able to get in scoring position with under eight minutes to go in the first quarter. Pete’s Carroll’s team would open the scoring when Smith connected with DK Metcalf for a touchdown. After the extra point Seattle led 7-0.
LA’s second drive showed some life. After a penalty on the Seahawks, the Rams found themselves in scoring position. Stafford had Cooper Kupp wide open for a TD, but instead the ball would fall incomplete. On a fourth and goal, another Stafford pass would fall incomplete and the Rams would come away with zero points. Seattle still led by seven points with about two minutes to go in the first quarter.
Seattle started deep in their own territory, but unlike the Rams, Seattle moved the ball and it wasn’t all because of penalties. Smith was throwing well, the Seahawks were running well and they were driving to start the second quarter. LA’s defense folded on a third and 10 and gave up a 32 yard completion. The Rams defense surrendered yards on a fourth and one as Seattle got into position to add to their lead. Carroll’s squad would have to settle for a field goal, but now led 10-0.
On LA’s next drive, they threw three straight incomplete passes before punting back to Seattle. Smith would lead his team into scoring position again and for the second time in a row the Rams held Seattle to a field goal. The Seahawks lead 13-0 with under five minutes remaining in the first half.
On the Rams next drive Kupp appeared to get injured and he limped off the field. LA’s offense put together a drive even with Kupp on the sideline. The Rams were in the redzone with under two minutes remaining in the half. LA would finally score their first points of the day with a receiving touchdown for Puka Nacua.
LA trails 13-7 as the first half comes to a close.
