Sean McVay expects A’Shawn Robinson, Sony Michel ready to face Bears

The Rams get back some much needed reinforcements

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay spoke with the media to provide some updates in preparation for Sunday night’s matchup against the Chicago Bears.

McVay said that defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson is “on track to be able to go but we’ll take it a day at a time”.

This came as a pleasant surprise as Robinson just had a minor procedure done to his knee a little over a week ago. This is positive news for the Rams as Robinson is slated as a starter and will be a key factor in helping stop the rushing attack of the Bears backfield.

Chicago’s backfield including running backs David Montgomery and Damien Williams will be no easy task to stop, but adding back one of your key players on the defensive line helps tremendously. Robinson showed up to camp being in “the best shape of his NFL career” weighing in at 308 pounds.

In regards to Sony Michel being integrated into the playbook Sunday night and if he’s on track, McVay had this to say:

“He’s on track, we’re really in the early phases of our preparation so I'll have a better gauge and a good feel for that once we get through Wednesday and Thursday”

Expect Darrell Henderson to get the bulk of the carries but Michel should be in there for at least 5-10 plays. While not getting many targets in the receiving game in New England, he’s no slouch in that area of his game and should get some targets from Matthew Stafford against Chicago. McVay stated about Michel:

“He’s been intent in meetings, he’s got a good look in his eye, I know Thomas Brown has been really pleased with him and so he’s on track and doing the things we had hoped for up this point.”

The Rams host the Bears on Sunday Night Football this coming weekend and Robinson, Michel could both help McVay get to the 1-0 record he’s hoping for in six days.
