The Los Angeles Rams season opener is on Sunday Night Football against the Chicago Bears on September 12th. With just a week remaining until kickoff, let’s take a quick look at two of the key matchups lined up for 2021 Rams debut.
With the eleventh pick in the draft, the Bears selected former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields. Fields had an impressive preseason showing but veteran Andy Dalton has been named the starter for week one against the Rams. Dalton was matched up against a former Ohio State Buckeye to earn the position for week one and will be squaring off with another former Ohio State player on the Rams defense in the season opener. Jordan Fuller, safety, and defensive team captain, is coming back for his second season after a solid rookie campaign. In 2020 fuller showed off his skill at reading offenses and being in the right spot while playing alongside John Johnson III. Now with Johnson playing with the Cleveland Browns, Fuller remains as one of the key players for the defense and will be looking to keep Dalton and the Bears in check.
Last season when the Rams played the Bears, LA cornerback Jalen Ramsey played a key role in the victory, keeping WR Allen Robinson to only 70 yards on four receptions and zero touchdowns, while also getting an interception on Nick Foles to finish the game. Robinson and Darnell Mooney return this season as two of the Bears main receiving targets and will again be testing Ramsey and the Rams secondary which brings back Darious Williams and the above mentioned Fuller at safety.
