The Los Angeles Rams are ranked number one by most major outlets including NFL.com, ESPN, and USA Today. The boys in Blue and Sol claim the top spot across the board after defeating the formerly top ranked Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week three 34-24 in front of a sold out SoFi Stadium crowd.

NFL.com has the Rams making the biggest jump from their number four spot last week. ESPN and USA Today both had LA ranked number two last week and have them up one spot this week.

Are the Rams really the best team in the NFL? It could be hard to say given that it’s only week three and they’ve only played three teams. However, there are only four other teams that are undefeated and of those teams none of them have beat the formerly top ranked champions. In addition, the other top ranked teams, the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, and Baltimore Ravens have all taken losses and all of those losses have come to teams outside the top six by the NFL.com rankings.

All teams want to be number one in week three, but not nearly as much as they want to be number one at the end of the season. With that in mind, there’s a long road ahead for the Rams to maintain this position. But Matthew Stafford’s pass attack and command of the offense, Cooper Kupp’s break out start, the defense’s stifling run stoppage, and Coach McVay’s scheme, have all the experts in agreement about where this team is stacking up compared to the rest. They may have been the best from the jump, but here in week three, the Rams are ranked number one.
