Rams add RB to practice squad on Monday

LA added one and dropped one from the practice squad on Monday

The LA Rams have already been through a lot at the running back position already in 2021, and that continued with two more roster moves at the position on Monday. The team announced that undrafted rookie free agent Otis Anderson was being released from the practice squad and that undrafted rookie free agent running back Javian Hawkins had been signed to the practice squad.

As we await news on Darrell Henderson, who left the game in the fourth quarter on Sunday after suffering a rib injury in the win over the Indianapolis Colts, it seems as though the team is preparing for anything as they swap out backs on the practice squad.

Javian Hawkins was somebody thought to be a target of the Rams before the 2021 draft and now the two sides have finally come to an agreement to work together. Hawkins rushed for 1,525 yards and nine touchdowns at Louisville in 2019 as a redshirt freshman, then had 822 yards and seven touchdowns in only eight games in 2020.

He went undrafted and signed with the Atlanta Falcons, who released him before final cuts. He was picked up by the Tennessee Titans, but waived on August 31st.

Sean McVay expressed “hope” that Henderson would be ready to return by Week 3 during his press conference on Monday.
