The Rams started off with a bang versus the Chicago Bears in Week 1 as Matthew Stafford threw two touchdowns that went over 55 yards and three altogether. The defense got two turnovers and three sacks. Chicago had their share of highlights including a few solid rushing plays and a run in score from rookie quarterback Justin Fields. But the night belonged to the Rams in SoFi Stadium as the lead was mostly unchallenged.
The Indianapolis Colts scored only 16 points in their first game while giving up 28 points against the Seattle Seahawks. Carson Wentz completed 25 of 38 passes for 251 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. Both Wentz and Russell Wilson were sacked three times.
Aaron Donald, the three time Defensive Player of the Year, will be matched up against the Colt’s three time all-pro guard Quenton Nelson. Zach Pascal is the Colts leading receiver with four catches for 43 yards in Week 1. Along with Colts receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and Paris Campbell, they will try to find space in a secondary led by Jalen Ramsey and Jordan Fuller.
Stafford’s leading receiver in Week 1 was Cooper Kupp who tallied 108 yards over seven catches and one touchdown for 56 yards. Van Jefferson and Robert Woods also found the end zone for scores against the Bears. Two time Pro Bowl linebacker Darius Leonard will be applying the pressure on Stafford in hopes of keeping the Rams offense from repeating a 300 yard passing performance.
All four of the teams in the NFC West including the Rams have a chance to go 2-0. LA looks to keep the momentum rolling from SoFi to Indianapolis.
