Now the team will head back to Irvine to finish training camp on Monday and Tuesday. With two days remaining and the Cowboys’ scrimmage tape to learn from, here are two position groups to watch during the last days of camp.
David Long Jr. had a mixed day against the Cowboys’ WR CeeDee Lamb on Saturday giving up a few completions but also getting some pass breakups to even things out. Long played on the outside opposite Darious Williams with Jalen Ramsey on the inside as reported by Jourdan Rodrigue from the Athletic. Meanwhile, third year DB Kareem Orr and fifth year DB Dont’e Deayon both had impressive outings with pass break ups and Orr nearly making an interception according to Rams writer Stu Jackson. Overall the defense had a positive showing against the Cowboy’s offense. Will Sean McVay and Raheem Morris make any personnel changes or distribute reps any differently based on the scrimmage?
The play of the day for Saturday’s scrimmage was a 60 yard deep pass touchdown from Matthew Stafford to DeSean Jackson. So far, in training camp Stafford has hit multiple downfield targets to, Jackson, Cooper Kupp, and Robert Woods. We know Van Jefferson has made catches in the short and intermediate spaces and has also been targeted in the deep area but so far it seems like the Stafford to Jefferson deep ball highlight would be the one missing from the reel. Will the second year WR connect downfield before camp is done?
