ESPN posted an article ranking the projected top 100 players of 2021. The number one player was Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Number two was Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
The other Rams to make the list were cornerback Jalen Ramsey at number seven and quarterback Matthew Stafford at number 24. The Rams and the San Francisco 49ers both have three players in the top 25 of this list and the Chiefs have four.
Donald, the seven time pro bowler and three time defensive player of the year, is the highest ranked tackle and highest ranked defensive player on the list. The next defensive tackle is the Chiefs Chris Jones at 41. ESPN is projecting 11 sacks, 52 tackles, and two forced fumbles for the upcoming season.
Ramsey is the highest ranked cornerback on the list at seven overall and the second LA defensive player in the top 10. This year new defensive coordinator Raheem Morris has plans to utilize Ramsey’s skillset in new ways to leverage his abilities more than has been the case so far for the elite shutdown corner. ESPN projects 55 tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble.
Stafford, ranked at 24, is the third Rams player to make the top 25. Eight quarterbacks are higher on the list above Stafford whose stock has risen since being ranked 52 last year. Expectations are high for Stafford who will get the benefit of playing in Sean McVay's offense this season. ESPN projects 4,630 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
