The Los Angeles Rams released six players as of Monday, with so far no additional cuts being announced since mid-day. The Rams must get down to 53 players by Tuesday at 1 PM PT and they have a number of important decisions left to make public.

Well, pretty much all of the important decisions remain unknown.

The players released as of Monday have been:

WR Jeremiah Haydel

S Troy Warner

DB Donovan Olumba

G Jeremiah Kolone

G Jordan Meredith

DB Brontae Harris

What is not yet known if the fate of four-time all-pro punter Johnny Hekker and his competition at the position, Corey Bojorquez. There were a number of small trades around the league on Monday and the Rams are certainly going to be involved in as many of those discussions as possible leading up to the deadline.

Trading Hekker and getting another team to pay his entire $4 million base salary could save the Rams $3 million net against the 2021 cap: Bojorquez would make $1 million if he makes the team over Hekker.

Other key questions facing the team appear to be:

  • Keep TE Brycen Hopkins or TE Kendall Blanton or both
  • How many offensive linemen and is Bobby Evans one of them?
  • Will there be a sixth WR?
  • Keep RB Xavier Jones?
  • Keep QB Bryce Perkins as a QB3?
  • Is there a trade opportunity for ILB Micah Kiser?
  • How many DBs do the Rams keep and which of JR Reed, JuJu Hughes, or Kareem Orr make the team?
  • Will OLB Terrell Lewis get cut or traded or make the team?

Sean McVay and Les Snead are not known to be hasty in these decisions and we may not even know the true final roster until Wednesday or Thursday, at the earliest. After final cuts, Los Angeles might make several more transactions and roster decisions, including placing certain players, like A’Shawn Robinson, on injured reserve to create an additional roster space.

Robinson could be brought in time to return for Week 4, if LA opts to do that with him or any other players.
