Just in case you needed another reminder that Matthew Stafford is not Jared Goff, the LA Rams’ new QB was back in action only one day after injuring his thumb in practice. Of course, Goff suffered a broken thumb and gutted his way back to help the Rams beat the Seattle Seahawks in the wild card round two weeks after breaking it against Seattle, and Stafford’s x-rays came back negative following the scuttlebutt on Monday, but it’s still good to see the new quarterback going off so soon.
Videos and messages have been shared all day long as the Rams put on pads in training camp for the first time on Tuesday. Rams reporter Stu Jackson had plenty of positive updates, while reporter Sarina Morales also shared some quality clips.
Matthew Stafford with a deep TD pass to DeSean Jackson vs. second team defense in team drills. Jackson’s speed showing again — had a good amount of distance between him and the last defender.— Stu Jackson (@StuJRams) August 3, 2021
Ball placement was excellent and similar to throw Stafford had yesterday to Robert Woods in team drills when Woods was being trailed by 3 defenders.— Stu Jackson (@StuJRams) August 3, 2021
The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue also had some insight into the action, one day after she reported Stafford’s thumb issue which thankfully is not an issue anymore it seems.
Matthew Stafford is running the first team offense in the first padded team period today, so another great sign for that thumb.— Jourdan Rodrigue (@JourdanRodrigue) August 3, 2021
