It’s that the time of the offseason where teams are parting ways players to get their final roster for the regular season, and the Los Angeles Rams are a day early with their cuts. Per the Rams’ transaction page five players were waived from the roster this morning, including kicker Austin MacGinnis, linebacker Derrick Moncrief, offensive tackle Ryan Pope, defensive end Maximilian Roberts, and defensive tack George Silvanic.
Per the Rams’ website transaction page, they have waived kicker Austin MacGinnis, LB Derrick Moncrief, T Ryan Pope, OLB Max Robert’s and DL George Silvanic. The 90-man roster had to be down to 85 players by tomorrow before 4PM ET.

There were not any real surprises for the players that were cut, except for maybe Ryan Pope who was claimed off of waivers just five days ago on August 11th. Kicker MacGinnis missed a 40 yard field goal on Saturday’s preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers—which may have helped the decision to waive the kicker in the first round of cuts.
Silvanic was an undrafted free agent signing out of Air Force this year and is definitely a player who could be brought back at some point. Moncrief went undrafted in 2017 and spent time in the CFL before signing with the Raiders, and then the Rams, in 2020. He is another potential add for the practice squad eventually. Roberts is another undrafted free agent signing out of the 2020 class, coming out of Boston College, and he wasn’t a player who made it onto the radar during OTAs or training camp this offseason.
The deadline to get to a 53-man roster is August 31st. The NFL is also keeping their extended practice squad from 2020 and teams will have 16 spots for players that are just outside of the bubble.
