The folks over at Pro Football Focus have been churning out various lists in recent weeks that are ranking the top-32 players at each position heading into the 2021 season. Today, analyst Sam Monson put out his list of the league’s top guards and the Rams’ Austin Corbett managed to make the the grade at 20th.

Despite struggling in his early years with the Browns, Corbett seems to have found his home in Los Angeles where the lineman-friendly scheme seems to have accelerated his progression into a rock-steady contributor up front.

Here’s what Monson had to say about Corbett:

“Overdrafted and thrown to the wolves early in his career, Corbett was in over his head when he first saw the field for the Browns. But with the Los Angeles Rams, he has developed into a solid starter at guard. He allowed one sack in 2020, but his run blocking is where we really saw improvement, and he was a big part of that offensive line getting back to a high level despite a transition in personnel.”

For a front five that will see continued transition into a younger unit over the next few years, it’s a welcomed sight to see a castoff from another franchise solidifying himself as a key part of the group going forward.
