The Rams didn’t draft any offensive linemen this year so the rookie on the team with the highest profile is undrafted free agent signing Alaric Jackson. A left tackle at the University of Iowa, Jackson stepped into the position as a freshman when the starter went down with injury. About a month later, Tristan Wirfs, another freshman lineman on the team, took over at right tackle after another injury.
Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz talked about that and the job that Jackson did over the next four years as his team’s left tackle. He may not be held in near the same regard as Wirfs, but he did hold his own while playing alongside one of the current best young offensive linemen in the NFL.
Les Snead said that Jackson is “a very talented kid and because of the Big Ten, didn’t have as good a year, a little bit probably similar to David Edwards types, where he didn’t have as good a year as the year before and he fell out of the draft.”
Are you expecting Jackson to have a role on the team in the future or did Snead miss the boat on any offensive linemen to build around by not drafting one?
