The Los Angeles Rams made it clear that they value cornerback Darious Williams, assigning him the first round tender as a restricted free agent earlier this year, and on Wednesday he made it official. Williams signed his one-year tender and he will make a guaranteed $4.766 million in 2021 unless he signs a contract extension that pays him even more.

Williams has been a playmaker since becoming a starter at corner alongside all-pro Jalen Ramsey, recording six interceptions in the regular season and yet another in the playoffs this year. He is relatively old for a first time restricted free agent, nearly two years ahead of Ramsey, and that could give the Rams pause before signing him to a long-term deal. That and the fact that Ramsey is the highest paid defensive back in the NFL.
But LA couldn’t stand the thought of going next season without him and they made him one of the richest restricted free agents in history.
