In a new article published by NFL.com’s Marc Sessler, he pairs 2021 free agents with their “perfect” team fit. And when it came to the Rams, Sessler believes that former Chargers and Titans defensive back Desmond King would be an ideal match to head back to Los Angeles, just with the other team that calls the city home.
“Darious Williams stands to replace Troy Hill as an outside corner, and King can join the stingy Rams defense as the team’s third CB in a fashion similar to how he fit into Tennessee’s defense last season,” Sessler pointed out. “Still only 26, King has some years left in him and can bolster a group headlined by Jalen Ramsey and the promising Williams.”
As Sessler said above, Williams is expected back with the Rams and it’s a no-brainer that he would pair with Ramsey on the outside. Potentially adding a former First-Team All-Pro in King could be a stellar move, but there’s a reason the Chargers felt compelled to get rid of him for a lone sixth-round pick. The Rams will have to balance the good with the unknown and/or bad if King does end up being on the team’s radar when free agency starts later this month.
