Rams News: Where does LA rank in stopping 4th down attempts?

Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 10/29/21

The Los Angeles Rams rank fourth in stopping opposing teams fourth down attempts. The defense led by Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey has denied opponents on 10 of 15 fourth down attempts allowing only 33% of attempts to convert.

Watch: Here are candidates for the top three fourth down stops.

Rams vs Lions

Against the Lions in the third quarter while down by one 16-17, Detroit attempts a fourth and one. The Lions line up in a tight formation with one wide split to the left and D’Andre Swift as the lone back behind Jared Goff. Goff starts under center and hands off to the right with Swift running right at Aaron Donald. The hole is plugged and Swift is forced left where Greg Gaines, Terrell Lewis, and Kenny Young are there to meet him behind the line of scrimmage for the stop.

Rams vs Colts

Carson Wentz and the Indianapolis Colts faced a fourth down in the first quarter against the Rams while one yard away from a touchdown and a chance to score first in the game. Wentz lined up under center with three tight ends tight to the right and one single back. On the snap, Wentz did a poor play fake to the right and immediately had Leonard Floyd in his face. Wentz attempted to shake Floyd but failed and was sacked for a turnover on downs.

Rams vs Seahawks

Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks also made the mistake of attempting to convert a first down against the Rams in the first quarter of a scoreless game. The Seahawks were at the 30 yard line facing a fourth and two. Wilson lined up under center with three tight ends off the tackles and one single back. On the snap he hands to Alex Collins who runs right into Aaron Donald in the A Gap. Negative one yard gain. Turnover on downs.
