Los Angeles Rams Aaron Donald, the three time defensive player of the year is leading a defense that has 20 sacks this season through the first seven games. There are only two other teams in the league that have more, with 21 each. Against the Detroit Lions in the week seven match up at SoFi stadium the Lions surrendered two sacks to the Rams. Linebacker Kenny Young, recently traded to the Denver Broncos, got to Jared Goff for a sack and also Sebastian Joseph-Day closed for a sack after the rest of the rushers collapsed the pocket on Goff.

Leonard Floyd is leading the team with 4.5 sacks so far this season, Donald has 3.5, Joseph-Day and Terrell Lewis both have 3, and Ogbonnia Okowonkro’s got one. Young, before traded, had recorded two sacks with the Rams.
The Rams pass rush is of course in good shape with Donald as the core of the group and even after losing edge rusher Justin Hollins early in the season, Lewis and Okowonkro seem to be stepping up. Along with the front, we’ve seen defensive coordinator choosing to send blitzes from the secondary as safety Taylor Rapp has a sack and cornerback Jalen Ramsey has been rushing from the interior and got a hit on Goff against Detroit.
We’ll have to wait and see who the Rams will assign or acquire to fill in for Young. Until then, it’s good to know that as a group, LA’s pass rushers are consistently getting to the quarterback.
