Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams continue to build chemistry going into week seven as one of the top passing pairs in the league. Kupp had impressive seasons before the arrival of Stafford but the idea was to see Kupp elevated once the veteran passer was brought in and the results have been impressive.
The chemistry was first observed at training camp when both players known for their intellect as well as their ability seemed to shadow each other never getting out of range to discuss plays, past, present, and upcoming.
Check out this story by NFL Network’s Steve Wyche on how the two work together.
As Wyche mentions, this level of attention to detail is why the two players were successful while playing on separate teams and why they are so dangerous to defend when lined up in the same direction.
This week represents only the seventh game the pair have operated in live action together and already they are posting numbers to compete with the likes of seasoned partners like Aaron Rodgers - Davante Adams and Patrick Mahomes - Tyreek Hill. Like Tom Brady in 2020, playing his first season with a new team, the expectation is that Stafford continues to improve throughout the season as his comfort level and chemistry with receivers like Kupp evolves.
If that’s case, we’ll see a lot more examples of Kupp and Stafford appearing perfectly in sync and operating with the precision and timing that is proving very difficult to stop.
