Not even during the Sean McVay era have there been many games as intriguing as today’s contest against the Arizona Cardinals. If only the reasons why today’s game is intriguing were more positive than the reality of the situation, we could delight in the LA Rams playing for a win that would secure their trip to the postseason.
If only John Wolford had been thrust into action because he was so outstanding in practice that McVay knew it would be a fireable offense to keep him on the bench, rather than the reason being Jared Goff’s thumb and a helmet that was just passing by.
This week has brought the Rams many obstacles at a critical time: Goff is out, Darrell Henderson is out, Cooper Kupp is out, Michael Brockers is out, Cam Akers might attempt to play through a high ankle sprain, Leonard Floyd was sick enough to go to the hospital on Friday.
But the past does not matter. The only thing that will matter for the Rams today are today’s Rams.
The Cardinals could not prepare for Wolford-to-Van Jefferson. They don’t have a gameplan for what McVay will have in store for the world on Sunday because perhaps not even McVay could have a plan to stop McVay without Goff as his quarterback. And that’s just talking about LA’s offense because we already know that the Rams have one of the best , if not the best, defenses in the NFL.
The Rams can’t worry about what’s happened this week or what could happen next week. Care about what you can control and the only thing you can control is what happens right now. Time for the Rams to not show us who they were or who they will be; but who they are.
Win and you’re in.
Talk about it here!
