The Los Angeles Rams are just messing with Jared Goff at this point.
On Tuesday, Rams general manager Les Snead spoke to local media members and, of course, Goff’s status with the franchise was a burning topic of conversation.
Just like coach Sean McVay last week, Snead was lukewarm in his commitment to Goff, the team’s highly-paid quarterback.
Les Snead, when asked by a reporter why not just say whether Goff is their QB of the future, says he's a "Ram right now, what's today? Jan. 26....” and that he would get questions and scrutiny regardless, cites QB wins, and emphasizes they want to be a better offense throughout.

Speaking of similar messaging to McVay: Les, when pressed, says it’s too early to speculate about Goff and that he is a Ram “at this moment”, which is a fancier way of saying “right now” for those still twitching about that little number

Yes, this should go over well with Goff.
Further stoking the fire, Snead not, once, but twice, quoted Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers from his obscure press conference last week when he said the future is a “beautiful mystery.”
I am CERTAIN that Les Snead, somewhat drily, quoting Aaron Rodgers’, “the future is a beautiful mystery”, to both open and close his press conference today, thereby bookending a sequence of noncommittal responses about Goff, will be handled in a calm manner on this website.

The Rodgers’ quote is major shade on Snead’s part. Rodgers is already being connected to the Rams and Snead had to know that.

There is a long way to go for the Rams to make any move at quarterback, but Tuesday’s developments certainly crack the door a little more open.
