Players shower praise on Aaron Donald as NFL’s best

Nobody in the NFL gets more respect right now than Aaron Donald. Not everybody says that Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL. Not everybody believes that Derrick Henry has the same amount of value. But nobody would argue against Donald as the best defensive tackle, few would argue against him as the best defensive player overall, and some know that he should be in the conversation for MVP.

Donald finished with 13.5 sacks in 2020, but the Rams finished with 53 as a team and it is obvious that Leonard Floyd’s 10.5 sacks, Morgan Fox’s six, and definitely Troy Reeder’s three-sack game all owe credit to the player who made it possible. Great leaders motivate their teammates through inspiration and what could be more inspirational than the work it takes to make six straight first team all-pro rosters by redefining what a defensive tackle could literally look like.

I know that Mahomes is in better physical condition and able to do so many things that his eighties counterparts couldn’t do, but imagine if all that was true but he also had biceps like David Boston. A comic book version of Mahomes would be launching 600 yard passes with arms built like jackhammers. Aaron Donald is the comic book version of Aaron Donald already. The comic book version of Aaron Donald would have to be more like an anti-hero who secretly wants to live a mild-mannered life and be left alone.

Donald again saved the world from the Seahawks on Saturday during LA’s 30-20 win in Seattle and more than a few of his peers had words to say, as well those who played long before him and have witnessed most of the greats.

Some non-NFL players also had some words of praise for Donald.
