Random Ramsdom: Goff rises in NFL QB power rankings

While most sites and NFL writers provide their own takes on the traditional “power rankings” where they rank all 32 teams in the league from worst to first, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports is putting his own spin on the tradition. Instead of the entire team, Benjamin is simply ranking each franchise’s quarterback based on their latest performance.

Coming out of an excellent performance in Week 2, Rams quarterback Jared Goff made one of the more significant jumps out of anyone, going from 19th all the way up to 10th.

Goff is the biggest riser of this week after a nearly flawless Week 2, in which he walked up and down the Eagles’ defense en route to a blowout win,” says Benjamin. “That performance came on the heels of a surprisingly efficient season-opening upset of Dallas. When he’s pressured, he’s still especially subpar. But boy, does he look more comfortable than he’s been for a while.”

Through two games, Goff has completed 40-of-58 passes for 542 yards and three touchdowns to one interceptions. All of his touchdowns came against the Eagles, which were also all scored by tight end Tyler Higbee. Goff is playing the same high-efficiency football that helped this team become a terror in the NFC from 2017-2018, which included an appearance in the Super Bowl.

Let’s hope they keep things up.
