On his latest Zoom call with the media, head coach Sean McVay made it very apparent that he wants wide receiver Robert Woods around for as long as possible. McVay told reporters “We want to get (Woods) extended, too,” while mentioning that the veteran is a huge part of what they do on offense.

“That’s something I think is definitely important,” McVay said. “You absolutely talk to your players about that. Robert and Cooper have been pillars of what we’ve done the last, few years. It’s great to get Cooper under contract, I’m so happy for him. And you can expect to see something similar down the line here very shortly we’re working toward for Robert.”

This season is year four of the five-year contract Woods signed back in 2017. After recording 176 catches and 2,353 yards over the last two seasons, the hometown product got off a great start this past Sunday with six receptions for 105 yards in a 20-17 victory over the Cowboys.

The 28-year old is scheduled to make $7 million this season with a final $9 million in 2021.
