The LA Rams made some roster moves on Tuesday.
They added two linebackers — but the most interesting aspect of the transactions is how they affect the team’s quarterback room.

• Signed LB Daniel Bituli + LB Derrick Moncrief
• Waived LB Bryan London + QB Josh Love
The decision to cut Josh Love is seemingly good news for Bryce Perkins.

The Rams signed both quarterbacks as undrafted free agents. Perkins impressed coach Sean McVay and his staff more than Love, a Long Beach product who played at San Jose State. McVay praised Perkins’ play while talking to reporters on Tuesday.
Sean McVay indicates that a dual-threat ability - as demonstrated by QB2 John Wolford in Saturday’s scrimmage - is a helpful additive quality also in Perkins as the team figured out what cuts to make (announced this morning). Says Perkins has been doing some good things for them.

For now, it seems like McVay is satisfied with John Wolford and Perkins — who played at Arizona State and then Virginia — as his No. 2 and No. 3 quarterbacks behind starter Jared Goff. Both of the reserves can make plays with their legs and that is intriguing to the coaching staff.
I still think the backup quarterback situation is fluid, meaning the Rams still look at the waiver wire in the coming weeks. But Love’s release shows where the Rams are at right now at the position.
As for Daniel Bituli and Derrick Moncrief, both linebackers will have less than two weeks to make a push for the roster. The 53-man roster cut-down day is Sept. 5.
