Finishing off the Rams top-10 list for the 2020 offense

We need to round out the list

Last week we came to a reasonable top-10 for the LA Rams 2020 defense:

1. Aaron Donald

2. Jalen Ramsey

3. John Johnson

4. Michael Brockers

5. Leonard Floyd

6. A’Shawn Robinson

7. Taylor Rapp

8. Terrell Lewis

9. Troy Hill

10. Samson Ebukam

It’s totally fine to disagree with that list but votes resulted in this and surely votes after next season will give us a new order in some respects. How about the offense? Things were a little harder to define there but initial poll results have given us these first five names:

1. Jared Goff

2. Andrew Whitworth

3. Cooper Kupp

4. Robert Woods

5. Cam Akers

Things get a little murkier at five where Tyler Higbee and Cam Akers are separated by only 12 votes. Poll results for number three had Akers ahead of Higbee by 77 votes(!) and number four had him ahead by 29 votes. That’s 106 more votes than Higbee leading into the five position so that’s why Akers had to be number five. So why not Higbee for an automatic six?

Rob Havenstein had more votes than Higbee in poll three and Higbee had more votes than Havenstein in polls four and five. It makes sense: if you voted for Akers earlier on, you’re not going to vote for him again one or two polls later. Havenstein had 27 more votes than Higbee in the first poll they were both included on. So who should be sixth?

The rest of the top 10 has a chance to look like Higbee at six and Havenstein at seven, but some more voting will need to be done to round this group out. Now that we’ve gotten the first five out of the way, how about the next five?

Reminder: the voting is based on how important that player’s presence is to the 2020 LA Rams offense. It is not to vote for players based on who you’d most like to see become a star; it is based on the player they are “expected” to be if they played reasonably well for who they are. It is not a vote for the position that is most important to the Rams or an NFL team in general; it is based on the players that they are expected to have at that position.

You may believe that Van Jefferson is going to become a star and you may vote based on your expectations for Jefferson for next season and next season alone.
