A host of NFL writers at ESPN are taking part in a huge experiment where they are re-drafting the entire NFL for all 32 teams. In other words, just imagine a giant fantasy football draft. The order in which teams pick is the same as 2020 draft meaning the Cincinnati Bengals are No. 1 and the Chiefs are down at No. 32. In this first edition of the series, the writers only went through four picks.
Some of the rules the writers needed to follow were that they had to draft at least one quarterback and one non-QB player on offense and defense within the first four picks. As long as they got those three types of players, their fourth pick could be anyone of their choosing.
Within the first four rounds, three Rams players were taken with one going in each of the first three rounds.
The first Rams player taken was defensive tackle Aaron Donald. Donald was the first non-QB taken following Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson, and Deshaun Watson. This was obviously one of the most-unsurprising picks as everyone and their mother would have expected Donald to go in the top 5.
The next player taken was cornerback Jalen Ramsey who went early in the second round at No. 38. He was the first cornerback taken and actually the first defensive back in general to be selected the entire exercise.
Lastly, quarterback Jared Goff was taken 84th-overall near the end of the third round. He was the 27th quarterback taken, falling behind the likes of Jarrett Stidham, Daniel Jones, and Kirk Cousins.
The selections of Donald and Ramsey were probably right where they should have been, but the Goff selection sort’ve comes off a bit disrespectful. This is a guy who has been to a Super Bowl and has lead one of the best teams in the NFL over the last three seasons but one of the writers really chose STIDHAM over him? I don’t buy it.
What do you all thinks of the list and/or the players chosen? Who got snubbed?
