Bryan DeArdo, an NFL writer for CBS Sports, has been participating in a series with an number of other writers called “Franchise Five”, which takes each of the 32 NFL teams and lists their greatest coach and quarterback in franchise history on top of three other non-quarterback players,
- HC Dick Vermeil
- DT Merlin Olson
- QB Kurt Warner
- RB Eric Dickerson
- DE Deacon Jones
- Honorable Mention: OL Jackie Slater, WR Isaac Bruce, DT Aaron Donald
“In all, the Rams have won three NFL titles, three NFC titles and one Super Bowl title while advancing to at least the NFC championship game 15 times,” DeArdo said. “Throughout their history, the Rams have showcased some of the best players in pro football, players whose careers are currently on display at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.”
After the head coach and quarterback are selected, it’s tough to then pick only three more players to include in this group. While Dickerson, Olson, and Jones are phenomenal picks, I’m sure most of you have one or two players you would argue for if given the chance (Orlando Pace for crying out loud?).
Well, here’s that chance.
