The LA Rams clearly believe Jalen Ramsey is the real deal when it comes to elite cornerbacks in the NFL. The franchise made that be known loud and clear when they gave up two first-round picks in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season to acquire the cornerback.

The Rams have been clear in their praise and appreciation of him and they are on the record saying they want to get a new contract extension for Ramsey, who is entering the final year of his contract. Ramsey has said he expects a deal to come as well. It wouldn’t be a shock if the Rams finale a new contract before the 2020 season begins.

There is a reason why the Rams want to keep him. He is an upper-level player at his position, CBS Sports just released a top 10 cornerbacks in the NFL and Ramsey is ranked near the top.

Yes, this list has Ramsey ranked below Marcus Peters, who they basically replaced with Ramsey. I think Ramsey, who is just 25, has a huge future and he will be paid atop of the cornerback scale. The list is subjective, but there is no disputing Ramsey belongs high on it.

The current highest paid cornerback is Darius Slay, who Detroit traded to the Eagles this offseason. He is averaging $16.6 million a season. Ramsey will surely get in that range and yes, he deserves it.
