The Rams took an unfortunate step back in 2019 following a trip to the Super Bowl the previous season. L.A. finished 9-7 last year and crazy enough, that was only good for third in the division. After double-digit wins in both 2017 and 2018, the Rams and their fans will expect nothing less than an improvement.
But for Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report, he predicts the Rams’ slide to continue as he forecasts a 7-9 record. According to the rest of his predictions, that would equate to another third-place finish in the division with only one more win than the fourth-place Cardinals.
“The Los Angeles Rams lost key players on both sides of the ball,” Moton says. “The team released running back Todd Gurley and linebacker Clay Matthews. The front office traded wideout Brandin Cooks to the Houston Texans. Defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. signed with the Atlanta Falcons during free agency.
Moton specifically points to a lack of experience in the backfield as where the Rams could struggle offensively. While Brown is the veteran of the group now, he has never carried the ball more than 69 times in any given season. The Rams will also miss 19.5 sacks from their defensive production with the losses of Dante Fowler Jr. and Clay Matthews.
With the combination of an unestablished ground game and an underwhelming group of pass-rushers apart Aaron Donald, Moton believes the team inevitably struggle to get to .500.
