I’ve been saying all offseason that this is and would continue to be a weird year for tight ends. The value of being a tight end may have never been higher than it was in 2020. While veteran QBs like Cam Newton and Jameis Winston remain free agents, older veterans like Jason Witten, Greg Olsen, and Jimmy Graham were able to easily find work and get paid handsomely for doing it.
The 2020 draft was not supposed to have many good tight ends but the Rams selection of Hopkins at 136 made him the ninth tight end off the board. And there’s even hope that he could be good!
To discuss that, I’ve recorded my voice in an audio file. We’ve been calling these “podcasts” in the modern era as opposed to “Sports CDs.” What’s the grade for Hopkins? Well, you’ll have to listen to find out why I wouldn’t say that.
