There were some odd picks, in my opinion, in the first round:
1) I thought the Browns took a risk selecting a career RT when they just spent a bunch of money on a RT in free agency. I know their plan is to move him to LT, and he has the skills to play there, but it's not as simple a transition as some try to make it sound. Considering the probable lack of training camp this summer it may make the transition even more difficult.
2) The Packers trading up to take Jordan Love. I get that Rodgers is getting up there in age, but they should be in "win now" mode while they still have him. Selecting his possible successor and giving up draft capital to do so is not a "win now" move.
3) The 49ers pretty much traded most of their few remaining draft picks to move up from 31 to 25 for Brandon Aiyuk. He's an explosive player, but their draft is pretty much over unless they trade away some players on their roster for picks tonight or tomorrow.
4) Both picks by the Raiders. With their pick of any WR in this draft they chose Ruggs. With their 2nd pick of the 1st round they took Damon Arnette, who had actually quit football just a year ago and had to be talked into playing again by his Dad. How committed is he?
Biggest "reaches" in the 1st round: #1- Dolphins taking Noah Igbinoghene at 30. #2 - Raiders taking Damon Arnette at 19. #3 - Titans taking Isaiah Wilson at 29. #4 - Seahawks taking Jordyn Brooks at 27.
Biggest "steals" in the 1st round: #1 - Cowboys get CeeDee Lamb at 17. #2 - Ravens get Patrick Queen at 28.
