Farewell, TST

Peace...except in the NFC East.

NFL: NFC Divisional Playoff-Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Rams Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

As most of yall know, Vox Media decided in December after years of deliberation to change the staffing for all of their team sites for teams in California including TST.

So in keeping with that timeline, this is gonna be my last post for the foreseeable future.

It’s been a long run. I was the first staff addition that TST Founder and former Managing Editor Ryan Van Bibber brought on. Wrote my first very dumb post in June of 2008. First ever Random Ramsdom a month later. And off we went chronicling nine consecutive losing seasons, four coaching eras and relocating the entire franchise.

It’s been a hell of a ride.

First off, I wanna thank all the staffers over the years. We’ve been able to give voice to Rams fans for more than a decade. I’ve gotten to know most of them very well and consider them all personal friends. They worked above and beyond what was expected of the time and again just to help the site and contribute to the spirit of fan media and discussion. That’s easily been the best thing about the whole journey, and I appreciate them more than I could explain.

I’ve gotta thank the SBN and Vox entities for letting me hold it down as long as I did. They could have gone in any number of directions (clearly!), but they gave me a chance to speak my mind. I don’t think they ever asked to censor me or cut back on anything editorially, so I should publicly acknowledge them for that and thank them especially Joel Thorman.

And of course, thanks to everyone who has been a part of TST. You, the readers. The commenters on the site. Social followers. Rams fans. Freaking Rams fans. It was so, so, so hard to be a Rams fan for so, so, so long. For years, TST was the only SB Nation NFL site never to have covered a winning season. It wasn’t until 2017 that we finally, FINALLY got that off our backs. What a depressing, difficult, destitute run. But the fortitude! The courage it took to stick around and keep coming back to TST to read and listen and watch. It’s a testament to the Ramily that so many of us kept coming back to commiserate together.

But we did. So thanks to everyone who’s been a part of TST. Here’s to the next era.

It’s been real.
