The Arizona Cardinals were just announced to be the home team for the Mexico City game at Estadio Azteca, 15 years after they played in the NFL’s first regular-season game outside of the United States. Arizona won that game 31-14 over the San Francisco 49ers with 103,467 fans in attendance.
We will be the home team for a game at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City in 2020.

In last year’s matchup in Mexico City, the Chargers played host to the Kansas City Chiefs in a close contest between AFC West rivals. The Chiefs won that game 24-17.
There is plenty of speculation to believe, based on last year’s match-up of interdivisional rivals, that the opponent for the Cardinals could be the the Rams. Last year’s regular-season finale was a close 31-24 win for the Rams and I think that sets a nice tone for a matchup between the two teams on primetime in foreign territory.
There’s a good chance that the opponent is one of the other divisional opponents, of course, and i think the 49ers have the best chance after a pair of entertaining shoot-outs between the two this past season.
